There is plenty to see and do in and around Chipping Campden,
but perhaps the first thing any visitor with an hour or so to spare and
a wish to get a feel for this gem of a North Cotswold town should do is
follow our town
trail.
Click at the left to access a detailed
description of some of the things you will see on this walk.
If you
forget to bring that description with you all is not lost,
as we have an excellent Town
Trail booklet containing similar fascinating facts that you
can buy at the Information Centre.
Alternatively, if you are in Chipping Campden on a Wednesday during
July, August or September you may prefer to participate in a
guided tour of Chipping Campden, conducted by Ann
and Mike
Colcomb, a husband and wife team who are also Cotswold Wardens.
These guided walks start at 1.30 pm at the Market Hall (just
opposite the Information Centre) and take about 90 minutes.
Participants are
requested to make a donation of not less than £2 per person,
this money being used to pay for the upkeep of stiles,
paths and signs and for other essential work within the
Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty .
Subject to their availability, Mike and Ann will
also conduct the same walk
privately with small groups - contact them on 01386 8312131
or email us
at the Information Centre and we will pass on your request.
For visitors wishing to go beyond the confines of the town
itself there are many country walks around Campden, including
a number incorporating sections of various named trails, such as the
Cotswold Way, the Monarch's Way, and the Heart of England Way. (A
selection of maps and guides showing footpaths, bridleways and named
trails can be bought at the Information Centre.) Detailed
directions for one such country
walk can be accessed by clicking the box at left.
For those interested in flowers, shrubs and trees there are gardens
aplenty in
the Cotswolds, and six of these, all within 6 miles (10 km ) of
Chipping Campden, are listed.
